Why Bring Ignite To Atlanta?

Why Bring Ignite To Atlanta?

I’ve known – peripherally – about Ignite for a long time. I follow a few people in different cities that have mentioned Ignite. They’ve always been really excited and enthusiastic. Once I finally put together that Ignite was a worldwide movement, I immediately went to look to see when Atlanta’s chapter met. Guess what? Atlanta didn’t have an Ignite event.

And that’s just friggin’ stupid.

Here we are in Atlanta – with tons of thriving communities from non-profits to startups, enthusiastic students, a decent music scene, hackers and Do-It-Yourself collectives – and yet we didn’t have an Ignite. Atlanta is full of brilliant people, but they’re so often disconnected from one another and many times communities don’t cross-pollinate. It’s just straight up good for people to connect and become more passionate about ideas, projects, and be inspired.

I’m Colin Ake, and I kickstarted the movement to bring Ignite to Atlanta. Since then, I’ve been joined by some awesome people as the community joins together to make an awesome event. The rest of the cast includes Michael Mealling, Brandy Nagel, and Tessa Horehled, with input taken from some awesome people in Atlanta like Bill Cutts, Sanjay Parekh, and Mike Schinkel. I am sure to be joined by more awesome people as Atlanta joins in. Hopefully this event (and the ones following) will play a role in bringing together communities in Atlanta. It’s time to Ignite Atlanta.

Come join us.
